Obituary of Sharon L. Ward
Sharon (Esch) Ward, 72, of Hightstown, passed away on Friday, June 21, 2019, at The Southern Ocean Medical Center, Manahawkin, NJ.
Born in Trenton, NJ, Sharon was a lifelong Hightstown resident, moving to Whiting nine months ago. She graduated from Hightstown High School, Class of 1965, and went on to work as a customer service and sales associate in the insurance field. She retired a few years ago after over 25 years of service in the industry.
Married in December of 1967, to William F. Ward, Sr., Sharon was a young widow with Bill’s premature passing in 1986. Sharon was a dedicated single parent raising her three children and maintaining her career. A devoted mother, grandmother and sister, she was the rock of the family.
Sharon was a longtime communicant of St. Anthony of Padua R.C. Church, Hightstown. She enjoyed country music, junk food and Snapple ice tea. Above all else Sharon loved time with her family; she particularly cherished teaching and playing with her grandchildren.
Predeceased by her parents, Peter and Clara (Mull) Esch, and her husband, William F. Ward, Sr.; she is survived by her children and their spouses, William F. Ward, Jr., Brian P. and Georgette Ward, and Erin E. and Joseph Flowers; her grandchildren, McKenzie, Madison, Sydney, Delaney, Joshua, Hannah and Peter; her siblings, P. Edward Esch, Betty O’Neill, Darlene Fiscus, and her twin Donald Esch; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 25, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua R.C. Church, Maxwell Avenue at Franklin Street, Hightstown, NJ.
Interment will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Hightstown, NJ.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, June 24, 2019, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Simplicity Funeral and Cremation Services at Glackin Chapel, 136 Morrison Ave., Hightstown, NJ.
