Obituary of W. Kim Dexheimer

W. Kim Dexheimer, 68, of Roosevelt, formerly of Hightstown, passed away, surrounded by his loving family on Friday, June 7, 2019, at St. Peter’s University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ.

 

Born and raised in Hightstown, Kim was a longtime Hightstown resident settling in Roosevelt several years ago.

He was a graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson University and went on to work as the Officer in Charge for the Roosevelt Post Office retiring 20 years ago. Kim was a dedicated volunteer fireman, having served as the former Chief of the Roosevelt Fire Company.

 

Kim was a Renaissance man having interests in many areas. In earlier years as a musician (drummer) and thespian he enjoyed being in productions in college and after graduating in community theater. He loved surf fishing on Island Beach State Park and at the Point Pleasant Inlet. He was a competitive poker player and a gun collector, achieving Marksman status and, at one time, was ranked 2nd in the country. Kim also loved cars, specifically stock car racing and drag racing. He held a national record many years ago.

 

Predeceased by his parents, Raymond V. and Eleanora (Wright) Dexheimer and his wife, Barbara Anne (Smith) Dexheimer; he is survived by his children and their spouses, Valerie R. McNelly and Michael, Sharon L. Warshany, Donald “Butch” Skillman, Jr., and Craig M. Skillman and Francine; his grandchildren, Sierra, Sage, Zachary, Damon, Amber, Cynthia, Benjamin, Sydney and Ashley; and his dear Dexheimer Family cousins.

 

Gathering for family and friends will be held Thursday, June 13, 2019, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Memorial Service beginning at 7:00 pm. at Simplicity Funeral and Cremation Services at Glackin Chapel, 136 Morrison Ave., Hightstown, NJ.

 

Cremation services will be private.

 

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Kim’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation by visiting In Memory Of via inmemof.org.
