Obituary of Robert J. O'Donnell

Robert J. O'Donnell, 85, of East Windsor, passed away on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, peacefully in his home surrounded by family.  

 

Born in Philadelphia, PA, Mr. O'Donnell was raised in Bristol. He resided in the Hightstown/East Windsor area for over 55 years. He proudly served in the military and was honorably discharged from the US Navy.  He received his bachelor’s degree from LaSalle University and worked in accounting and sales. He served at St. Anthony of Padua Church and in the community in various capacities.

 

Mr. O’Donnell was a devoted family man; he treasured time with his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and his beloved dog, Clemmie.

 

Predeceased by his parents, Edward and Louise (Szywala) O'Donnell; he is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Alice (O'Mullan) O'Donnell; his daughters, Kathleen Applegate (Jim Heyburn) and Mary Pinney (Brian C. Pinney); his grandchildren, Stephen Applegate (Ashley), Brian Eric Pinney (Caroline), Stephanie Pinney (Mike), and Corey Pinney (Carly); his great-grandchildren, Jacob and Kylie; and his siblings, Maryann and Edward O’Donnell.

 

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua R.C. Church, Maxwell Avenue and Franklin Street, Hightstown, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated beginning at 11:00 a.m.

 

Interment and Honors will follow at Brigadier General Wm. C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, North Hanover, NJ.

 

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mr. O'Donnell’s memory to Wounded Warrior Project at www.woundedwarriorproject.org/donate or the Popcorn Zoo at ahs.givecloud.co/our-wildlife-club.

 

Arrangements are under the direction of Simplicity Funeral and Cremation Services at Glackin Chapel, 136 Morrison Ave., Hightstown, NJ.
