Obituary of Christine M. Beiswanger

Christine M. Beiswanger, PhD, 76, of Hightstown, passed away on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at Penn Medicine Princeton Medical Center in Plainsboro.  

 

Born in Brooklyn, New York, Christine resided in Arizona and Massachusetts before settling in Hightstown 34 years ago.  She attended Mount Holyoake College and went on to earn her PhD as a biological scientist from the University of New York at Albany.  It was during her graduate studies when she met her beloved husband, Walter S. Vincent, III.

 

Christine worked in research and taught as well. She worked at Coriell Institute of Medical Research in Camden for 17 years until her retirement in 2013. Following that she was a consultant to the Human Health and Heredity Project in Africa for eight years.

 

Christine and Walter enjoyed many years of traveling together. They enjoyed camping and hiking, and loved traveling by trailer.  She also enjoyed baking and was known for the delicious breads she made.

 

In years past, Christine was active as a leader with the Girl Scouts. She was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church of Hightstown, where she was instrumental in the development of the church’s children’s program.

 

Predeceased by her parents, William and Grace (Liebold) Beiswanger; she is survived by her husband, Walter S. Vincent, III; her daughter, Catherine Vincent; her sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn B. and Alfred Cali; her niece Nina Molden; and her great niece and great nephew, Charlotte and Max.

 

A Memorial Service will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 29, 2023, at the First Presbyterian Church of Hightstown, 320 North Main Street, Hightstown, New Jersey.

 

Cremation was private. 

 

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Christine’s memory to First Presbyterian Church of Hightstown Children’s Programs by visiting In Memory Of at inmemof.org.

 

Arrangements are under the direction of Simplicity Funeral and Cremation Services at Glackin Chapel, 136 Morrison Ave., Hightstown, NJ.
