Bernardo J. Szymczak Sr., 58, of Bordentown, passed away on Wednesday, November 17, 2021, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Hamilton New Jersey.
Born in Princeton, New Jersey, he was a graduate of Monroe High School, Class of 1981 where he was a member of the wrestling team. After a debilitating accident at a young age, Ben spent much of his time volunteering and mentoring children at the YMCA as well as working at a few odd jobs.
Ben had a passion for collecting comic books and figurines and was an avid Marvel fan. From the time he was young, he loved to fish, especially on the Assunpink Lake where he would often spend time with his family and friends. For years, he filmed home movies which he always enjoyed of his boys and many family members. Above all else, Ben adored his family and loved spending time with them, especially at the holidays and family gatherings.
Predeceased by his parents, Henry and Martha (Oliveri) Szymczak; he is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Bernardo J., Jr. and Mandy of Dover, DE and Joseph M and Tiffany Szymczak of Spotswood; his brothers and sister, Henry and Debra Szymczak of Las Vegas, NV, Frank S. Szymczak of Boca Raton, FL and Michalina A. and Ken Jacobs of Lumberton; his 4 grandchildren, Anthony, Trevor, Addy, Maleena; and his nieces and nephews, Christopher, Eric, Jeffrey, Debra, Michael, Haley Ann and Samantha.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on Saturday, November 20, 2021, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Simplicity Funeral and Cremation Services at Glackin Chapel, 136 Morrison Avenue, Hightstown, NJ followed by a funeral service beginning at 11:00 a.m.
Cremation services were private.
Masks are optional for the visitation and funeral services ofBernardo.
