Obituary of Edward J. Walsh

Edward J. Walsh, 50, of Bernardsville passed away Sunday, September 19, 2021, at his home.

Born in Houston, Texas, Ed was raised in Hightstown, New Jersey. He graduated from Hightstown High School and went on to be an executive chef and caterer.  Ed was passionate about cooking and enjoyed co-owning Verve Restaurant, expanding into catering services including providing services to Princeton University, various country clubs, and other venues.  Most recently, Ed worked alongside his father-in-law, assisting in the management of the family business, Cooper’s Deli in Newark.

In his spare time Ed enjoyed watching his beloved Dallas Cowboys, hanging out at Six Flags with his kids, wearing POLO attire, entertaining and barbequing for family and friends, and taking photos of everyone and everything.  Ed also became an avid traveler, he loved experiencing local fare and picking up regional spices to incorporate in his home brew.  Above all else he was a devoted husband and father.

Predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Frances; his brother, Thomas, and his daughter, Maiya; Ed is survived by his loving wife, Hope L. Cooper; his children, Jasmine, Michael, Zoë, Andrew, Noah and Sloane Walsh; his former spouse, Mindy Goldstein; his nephews, Jordan and Dylan Walsh; his sister-in-law, Janna Clark; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Sonnie & Margarette Cooper; his brother-in-law, Sonnie L. Cooper; and his sister-in-law, Wanda Cooper Kee.

The Walsh family requests masks must be worn for the visitation honoring Ed.

Visitation for friends and family will be held Thursday, September 23, 2021, from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 pm at Simplicity Funeral and Cremation Services at Glackin Chapel, 136 Morrison Ave., Hightstown, NJ.  Repass to follow at Verve Restaurant, 18 E. Main Street, Somerville, NJ.

Cremation services were held privately.
