Obituary of Shirley Ann Hewins

Shirley “Shirl” Ann Hewins, 72, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at Cranbury Center Genesis Nursing Home in Monroe, NJ. She had a stroke in 2017 and most recently a massive stroke, which she could not come back from, and was taken peacefully to rest with her family and our Lord. 

Ms. Hewins was born at Princeton Hospital, Princeton, NJ, and was a longtime resident of Hightstown, NJ. She was a graduate of Hightstown High School, class of 1966. Ms. Hewins retired from Wal-Mart, Princeton NJ and had several fulfilling jobs in the past. Ms. Hewins had spent her last few years on this earth at Cranbury Center Genesis Nursing Home, in Monroe, NJ.

Shirley was predeceased by her son, Craig E. Shook, Jr.; her mother and father, Emma (Donnelly) and Ernest Hewins; and her brother, James Hewins, all of Hightstown, NJ.  She is survived by her sister, Kathleen and her husband, George F. DeFusco, of Lamoine, ME; her uncle, James and Ruthann Hewins of Langhorne, PA; her niece, Katie and her husband, Greg Swanson, of Burlington, NJ; her nephew, Ryan P. and his wife, Jennifer, Quill of Toms River, NJ; her three beautiful great-nieces and three very handsome great-nephews; and many cousins from the Hewins and Donnelly sides.

A Celebration of Shirley’s life will be held at a future date.

Private cremation services will take place under the direction of Simplicity Funeral and Cremation Services at Glackin Chapel, 136 Morrison Avenue, Hightstown, NJ  08520.

Memorial contributions may be made in Ms. Hewins’ memory to St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, 156 Maxwell Ave., Hightstown, NJ.
