Ferenc Holonics, 86, of East Windsor, passed away on Tuesday, February 16, 2021, at Penn Medicine Princeton Medical Center in Plainsboro, NJ.
Born and raised in the small village of Bakonynána, Hungary, Mr. Holonics emigrated from Hungary to the USA during the Hungarian Revolution of 1956. He settled in Hightstown NJ. He built his family home in Hightstown and resided there until his passing. Mr. Holonics worked most of his life as a chemical technician for FMC Corporation until his retirement in 2001. He also enjoyed doing side jobs in the Princeton area, including doing masonry work at Villa Victoria Academy.
When his children were younger you would always find Mr. Holonics with a super 8 movie camera in his hand. He enjoyed making home movies. After retiring, he took care of his wife, Betty, helping her throughout her illness. He was an avid Ham radio operator and enjoyed communicating with Hungarians all over the world. Though he left Hungary in 1956, he never lost contact with his family and friends from the village where he was born.
Predeceased by his parents, Peter and Johanna (Folli) Holonics; and his wife, Betty "Mitch" Holonics; he is survived by his children and their spouses and partners, Amy Holonics and Bill Heubner of Alaska; Dean Holonics of East Windsor, Frank Holonics and Krystyna Zaborska of Hightstown and David and Jean Holonics of Hamilton; his grandchildren, Maya and Camille Heubner and Claudia, Travis and Collin Holonics; and his many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, February 23, 2021, from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at Simplicity Funeral and Cremation Services at Glackin Chapel, 136 Morrison Ave., Hightstown, NJ.
Graveside Prayers will be held on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at 11:00 am at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Mercer Street in Hightstown, NJ.
