Filomena Pizzolorusso, 82, of South Brunswick, NJ, passed away on Thursday, December 31, 2020, at the Meadow Lakes Senior Community in Hightstown, NJ. Born and raised in New York, Filomena graduated from St John’s University and became a high school Spanish teacher. After several years she moved to Mexico City where she worked as a translator for the American Embassy. After twenty years, Filomena returned to the Northeast in the early 1990’s and worked for CVS Pharmacy as a Photo Lab Supervisor. When in Mexico, Filomena made beautiful memories and friendships which lasted throughout her life. Friendships and family brought her the most joy. She was an adoring mother to her daughter and grandmother to her two grandchildren. Predeceased by her parents Pasquale and Olympia Pizzolorusso, she is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Paula and Kevin Ryan; and her grandchildren, Alyson and Derek. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 9, 2021, at 9:00 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua R.C. Church, 251 Franklin Street, Hightstown, NJ. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Kew Gardens, Queens, NY. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, January 8, 2021, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Simplicity Funeral and Cremation Services at Glackin Chapel, 136 Morrison Ave., Hightstown, NJ. Due to restrictions, the staff of Simplicity Funeral and Cremation Services at Glackin Chapel, respectfully requests all attendees wear a face covering during all services for Filomena.
