Mike was a wonderful member of our academic community. His efforts to lead the Southern Appalachian Botanical Society will help SABS remain vibrant and useful for the foreseeable future. He was one of the most gentle, caring and cheerful people I have known. His leadership and friendship will be remembered. He will be missed. Zack Murrell, former President of SABS and ASB.
