Losing your mom is unlike losing any other person in your life. After you care for her needs with funeral homes in Hightstown, NJ, you are going to go through a heavy grief period and it will take time to figure out how to move forward with a new normal and how to live with the grief. But even once things settle in, there will likely be days that feel harder. Mother’s Day, for example, is always a day that you are going to think about her and miss her fiercely. Just because she is no longer with you doesn’t mean you can’t spend the day honoring her. Here’s how.

Take Flowers To Her Final Resting Place

If you always sent your mom flowers on Mother’s Day, this year doesn’t have to be any different. Take flowers to her resting place and place them on her grave. If you scattered her in a park, take the flowers there and perhaps release some petals over that area. There are many different things you can do with flowers around your mom’s final resting place to honor her memory on that special day.

Cook Her Favorites

Your mom had certain recipes she’d perfected over the years and while things might taste the same when you make them, no matter how hard you try, making her favorites can still honor her on Mother’s Day. Whether it’s a casserole, a pie, or perhaps even both, cooking things she adored making herself can help you feel closer to her on that special day.

Have Family Over

It’s always nice to be with family when you are missing someone who was special to you. If you have siblings, it might be especially nice to have them and their families over so you can honor your mom by being together on that day. She’d appreciate knowing you were all together. You can share a meal and perhaps memories of her while you’re at it.

Create A Memory Book

Memory books are a nice way to bring some of your favorite things about your mom together in one place. You can place pictures, write captions, collect recipes, place ticket stubs, and whatever else you want. Tahe book is cathartic to make on Mother’s Day and it might be something you drag out and add to every year or, at least, look over.

Volunteer Somewhere Special To Her

Your mom might have been a compassionate lady, volunteering her time with worthy causes. You can volunteer at those special locations in her place on her special day. Even if she didn’t volunteer herself, you know what causes were important to her and spending time helping others in her honor can make you feel good, even as you grieve her loss.

Write Her A Letter

There are things you might want to say to your mom on Mother’s Day and you can still do that in written form. Write her a letter to tell her how much you miss her. Funeral homes in Hightstown, NJ can help with more ideas and resources ethier for immediate need or prearrangement services.
