Michael E. Savko Obituary
It’s with the heaviest of hearts we say farewell to Michael Edward Savko, who passed away at the age of 61 on July 20, 2026.
If you knew Mike, you liked Mike. Intelligent, cute, witty, and possessing a special charm, Mike spent his early years running the streets of Mercerville with his closest friends, Tommy Rowley, Mark Prekop, and Wally Jenkins, doing things like riding their bicycles in the toxic fog of the summer mosquito trucks, which explains a lot, putting up an untold amount of Christmas lights at Mark Prekop’s house, sledding at the trolley tracks, and hanging out in their fort.
Later in life, Mike worked for the NJ DOT and as a bartender at Bill’s Olde Tavern, where he handed out too many free drinks because he just wanted everyone to have a good time. NASCAR, deep sea fishing with his father and uncle, and the Eagles were just a few of the things Mike lived for (Fly Eagles Fly), but nothing more than hanging out with his boys.
He’s predeceased by his mother, Shirley Savko; and survived by his father, Edward Savko; his sister, Dianne Andreas; his partner, Dolly Savage; his brothers from other mothers, Tommy Rowley, Mark Prekop, Albert Bainbridge, Ken Buckley; and many, many friends.
In honor of Mike’s final wishes, he’ll take one last boat trip at the Jersey Shore and his ashes scattered into the Atlantic Ocean. Raise your glasses high.
Arrangements are under the direction of Simplicity Funeral and Cremation Services at Glackin Chapel, 136 Morrison Ave., Hightstown, NJ.
