Anne Groben passed away on February 17 at the age of 83, meeting the Savior she loved and faithfully served.
Born in August 1942 in New York, to Rita and Joseph Risso, Anne was the second of six children and was raised in Avenel, New Jersey. In 1958, she met the love of her life, Dick. They were later married and shared 63 wonderful years together, building a life rooted in devotion and raising three children: Scott, Cathy, and Larry.
In the early years of their marriage, Anne and Dick resided in Plainfield and Dunellen, New Jersey, before building their family home in Stanton, NJ. They later moved to a mountain home south of Ogden, Utah, where they spent 37 cherished years before eventually returning to their home state of New Jersey to be near family.
Anne was a woman of deep faith, a generous spirit, and legendary hospitality. Whether through a shared meal, a heartfelt conversation, or a simple act of service, Anne reflected Christ’s love in her daily life. She was unapologetically passionate about sharing the message of Christ with the world, eager to start a conversation about faith anytime and anywhere. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, generosity, and grace that will continue to inspire all who know her.
While she will be deeply missed, her family finds enduring comfort in the knowledge that she is at peace in her eternal home.
Anne is survived by her children, Scott, Cathy, and Larry; her grandson, Jack; her brothers, Joe and Jim; her sister, Sylvia; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
A service to celebrate Anne’s life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to The Voice of the Martyrs, a ministry dear to Anne’s heart.
Arrangements are under the direction of Simplicity Funeral and Cremation Services at Glackin Chapel, 136 Morrison Avenue, Hightstown, NJ.
